So, I went to Bunco tonight...and I lost. :( Is it maybe because the prizes were beautiful pots of plants???? So, see Austin has already broken one other pretty pot I won at Bunco. And, on Saturday morning we were only up early for about 15 minutes before he headed straight for one plant that he pulled over and spilled the dirt everywhere! He is ALL about getting into the plants, trashcans and fans!!! And, the funniest thing is when he gets mad or doesn't like something he sits there and grunts with his fists clenched tightly. This makes Chad & I laugh. Austin has gotten his three rounds of shots...not sure there is honestly much of a change. We go back mid-April for his 9 month check up, and they will check the ears out then. So, we shall wait and see. Austin is VERY busy, and he wants to pull up on everything!
Alyssa is cracking me up a lot these days. The latest is the 'SERIES' of questions I get every morning on the way to school. The other morning was the loads of questions about the 12 year old who took who parents truck and drove on the interstate. She was very curious how the police could find his parents. :) This morning was something else...but the long day has kept me from remembering. And, the best part of her Monday was playing 'pretend boyfriends' with her best friend 'A' after school. But I was rest assured when she told me there was NO kissing!

Ear Infections Stink!
Dear Austin,
Well, your sixth tooth broke through on Wednesday, March 24. One of the top right ones. You were sleeping through the night last week, but this week has been not been so good. You are waking up about midnight and 5 am. Yesterday we went back to the doctor for another checkup. Your ears were still red and bulging. It lead the doctors to give you the first day of shots. Boo! We had to go back today for round two. The doctor said they looked better, so that is good, but there was still some redness. You did sleep through the night last night! You cried just a bit today, and then you were good. So strong....'atta boy! Sad news...we go back tomorrow for the third day of shots. :( Hopefully they will be better. If not...we go back in two weeks, and the doctors could tell us to get tubes put in. So, we will see!
On the bright side...before your doctor's appointment we had an awesome morning! You were VERY proud of yourself this morning. I was grading papers on the couch and you pulled yourself up to stand there. Oh, the grin that was behind that pacifier! You are all about trying to pull up and stand right now. And, you want in every trash can and fan in the house! Then, we packed up and headed to the park. We played, and you even did some slides with alyssa, and you LOVED the swings. You had fun watching a squirrel, and then we had a picnic in the park. You were soooo good. After that, we headed over to ride the train. Alyssa loves to ride the train, and you seemed to enjoy it just as much! You were smiling and very excited through the whole ride. And, the weather was just gorgeous for us as well!
Now you are napping while Alyssa plays, and I am off to grade more papers. :( Before I forget....baths have become very exciting for you. I have to close the curtains some because you splash water EVERYWHERE as you get very excited. It is pretty funny. I love seeing you so happy about so many things. Keep that spirit forever.
And, Alyssa....I hope that you and your brother will continue to have the relationship you have now. You two love one another so much, and you take such good care of him. He won't be able to get away with much having you around!!!
I love you both....Mom

I love Spring Break!
What a WONDERFUL day it was today!!!
Yesterday we did not do too much exciting....I dropped Austin off at school, while Alyssa & I went to work in my room and go to the grocery store. Then we headed home to unload & reload to go set up for our casino party! Then it was back home to get ready & meet the sitter! Chad and I had an AWESOME time at our casino night....good times & laughs with many dear friends! AND....I want to go gambling SO bad! I love me some blackjack....and I even picked up learning how to play some Craps tonight! And, Chad....well....he does NOT enjoy gambling! He would rather hang on to the money! :)
Today was AMAZING! We woke up early. I was a 'fool' and scheduled Alyssa's dentist appointment early.
Alyssa my dear....how you DISLIKE the dentist (and any doctors). I feel so bad because you get yourself worked up in tears so quickly. :( We did actually get you to lay on the table this time so the lady could clean & floss your teeth. (Last time you stayed in my lap...baby steps...) We still have not gotten to take pictures of your teeth - that is the goal for the next visit. The doctors have commented on how tight your teeth are and have told me both times that braces will be in the future - more so sooner than later :(. Ugh...poor thing. I 'DREAD' those days and pray that you will overcome most of your anxiety issues by then!
After the appointment we went to meet Meghan and the kiddos! We all headed to SA to watch Pinkalicious at the Magic Theatre. You seemed to LOVE the show. You got to run around with your friends on the awesome playground before and after the show. We also enjoyed a sack lunch picnic there after the show. Then we headed to Sonic for 'happy hour' before going on to the Witte Museum. We went through the dinosaur exhibit, and I was impressed that you were not scared of the dinosaurs in there! You had a blast playing in the Science Treehouse. Had some cool things in there. After that we loaded up, and we did a little shopping in Old Navy. You helped me pick out Austin's swim trunks. So cute!!!! Then we met four of my college girlfriends for dinner. I didn't think you were going to make it (or myself) but you ate a bit and then it was time to call it a day!!! You were out in no time on the way home. Austin spent the day at his daycare, and hanging out at the baseball field with Dad. THANK YOU for a great time today Alyssa - I had a blast! I look forward to so many more memories with you. I love you my sweetie! And a major thanks to Kinley's mom for planning most of this great day!!

Some pics...
Spring Break is here!
I have to start by talking about last Sunday...What an AWESOME day it was! We (all four of us) spent most of the day out in the backyard and on the back porch. We finally got out Austin's swing - took down one of Alyssa's...and watched the two of them swing side by side. We moved the playpen on the back porch, I graded papers :( outside, and we even went to pick up dinner and enjoyed eating outside.
I am so glad this past week is over. Alyssa had her first two softball games for the 'Thunder' team. Quite entertaining! She also was not feeling well. She got over the stomach bug, but then she got some sort of infection that led to some major draining of the ear. Took her to the doctor on Wednesday and got some meds. She is doing much better now - you could see a great difference one day later.
We also tried going out to eat one night...why do we do this??? Austin is not nearly as good as Alyssa was as restaurants! I ate some with Alyssa while dad took care of his boy. Got the to-go boxes and headed home quickly.
Baseball is not going too well right now for dad....we need some major prayers and hope for it to turn around in the right direction. Austin is into EVERYTHING! He wants to check out everything and put everything in his mouth. He is really starting to pull up on things a lot. He also likes to try to stand up on all fours. Looks like he is doing some push-ups or something! He is not really interested in sitting still at baseball games either. He loves to laugh at this toy horse that sings. He sits and bounces and giggles while it plays. I also laugh at how he sits and kicks his legs when he gets excited....reminds me of all the kicking I felt in my belly before he was born. And when you smile sometimes...you crinkle up your nose. SO cute.
Alyssa is so happy to be on spring break...as are we! Tonight she and I made a cake, and she had fun putting on the icing and sprinkles...along with licking the bowl and the icing. My kind of girl!
We have been busy the past few days. We had a birthday party on Friday, and two yesterday. Today was a family day...and it was awesome to not be in a rush anywhere. We went to church, then tried to take some pics but Austin was asleep, so we went to lunch instead. I actually got to eat as Austin stayed asleep in the booth while the three of us enjoyed our lunch. I had a bit of a moment....God was truly testing my patience....as Alyssa spilled cranberry juice on her dress. Remember....we didn't do the pictures...we were going back!!!! So, after my husband reminded me...along with me taking a chill pill...it was only an accident. So, after lunch we headed to take Easter pictures with a bunny. THANK GOODNESS for photo shop...the photographer said she would take care of it! The kids were GREAT at the pictures, and I can't wait to see them.
After that we headed home for the rest of the afternoon. Chad took Alyssa to softball practice...he even helped out. What a change to go from teenage boys to coaching 5-7 year old girls!!!
Looking forward to some great memories this week! I love you both so much.
And by the way....one of the GREATEST sounds in the world is the giggle of a baby! Makes everything better.

Today...
Today Austin turned 8 months old! He is truly on the move...and a boy! Much busier already than Alyssa was. We went to the doctor yesterday for a follow up on his ears. He weighed 19 lbs 15 oz. The ears were not better. Both were very red now and looked bad inside. What do they REALLY look like in there??? I wish they would let me look one time. As if I would really know what to look for, but.... Anyways, we are on our third round of meds for it, and at this point I am preparing myself for the possibility of tubes in the VERY near future. :( With that being said, it is almost two years since Alyssa got hers, and they are still not completely healed. She has a little hole still in her left ear which is probably going to require a 'patch' surgery very soon. The doctor recommends doing it about 6 weeks before summer so that she can swim and all. It is an outpatient surgery, and they say it is simple like the tubes, BUT it is still a 'surgery.' So, we will see how that goes!
Chad is in the midst of baseball, so today was the bracket play of the tournament....which they WON tonight. They went 6-0 in three days...whew! I am so proud of him, and all that he puts up with in a sport with so many issues. Anyways, the three of us took it easy this morning, and then we packed up and headed to Gruene for a couple hours. We walked around, and then ate a late lunch. What a BEAUTIFUL day! I enjoyed hanging with the two kiddos...they were both great. Then we stopped by a friends house to drop off/pick up some stuff, went to HEB, softball practice, and back home. What a busy, but blessed day! Alyssa and I even had a conversation in the car stating all the things we are thankful for.
Also, I learned something new last night. Before we left Supernanny was on. I must confess that I like watching that show for ideas on 'improving' my patience. So, I recorded two episdoes. After we got home, I put one on, and Alyssa watched some of it with me. It was a GOOD learning tool for her. She saw how to/not to act, and we had some discussions. Nothing too major....THEN this evening she started to test me a little. All of a sudden she says, "Momma...come here." Yes, Alyssa? "I love you, and I am sorry for being bad earlier." awww...melted my heart....so THANK YOU Supernanny!!!

Dear Austin
Dear Austin,
You will be 8 months this weekend....wow! Tonight I watched you...soaking up the 'baby' moments. What an amazing age you are at. How wonderful and easy life is at this moment. No worries...just getting to eat, sleep, and play. You are simply precious, and so much fun. You are a happy little guy who smiles a lot. I LOVE IT! You have two more teeth that broke through this week - on Tuesday, March 8. You now have your two bottom and top teeth, along with another one on the top left. They bother you some, but you are not too fussy. You love your wub-a-nub pacifiers! They have been great, and so easy for you to grab and find. You are definitely opposite of Alyssa in the fact that you want that pacifier all the time. In the mornings you wake up a happy guy. We get you dressed for Missie's house, and you have a bottle. Right now you like to prepare a 'gift' for Missie on our way to school, and then you seem very happy and content throughout the day with your friends. How blessed we are that the kids of two of my best friends are with you daily. :) At your school you lay in the playpen and fall asleep on your own for naps. Wow!?! That doesn't usually happen at our house. You typically fall asleep on the way home. Sometimes you wake up when we get home, and other times you continue napping. You are usually worn out from your day. We get home and you usually eat, play, and take a bath before getting ready for bed. We typically rock you to sleep after giving you a small bottle. However, lately that has not really worked. You do better if I just go put you in your bed. I guess that is better in the long run, right??? I just miss cuddling with you, and falling asleep with you in my arms. We also usually give you some sort of breathing treatment once you are asleep. You have had some struggles with bronchiolitis, and right now the doctors say we should do a long term, once a day steroid treatment. You have been okay for a week or so now. You are also recovering from a second ear infection. You are eating 2nd foods, and seem to be loving them. I think you prefer the fruits over the veggies and meats. You like to eat the 'stars' too. I feel so behind on your eating schedule, but I think you will be okay! You typically wake up once during the night, insisting on having a bottle. You were awesome in the beginning about sleeping through the night, but ever since you got sick you like to wake up at least once. You have started crawling, and you are on the move. You LOVE bathtime...you like to splash around, and you have no problems with water in your face. There are a couple of toys you enjoy chewing on while taking your bath. I love to tickle you, your giggles are the best. And, you are quite ticklish! I also love listening to you sit and 'grunt' while playing. You are starting to babble more. You have recently picked up shaking your head 'no' for some things. YIKES! We are in trouble. You mainly do it when you are eating and you don't want anymore. Smart little guy! You LOVE trying to chew on my phone and the remotes, along with your daddy's caps. Everytime he is wearing a hat, you want it. Going out to eat is not nearly as simple as it was with Alyssa. You are okay for a little while, but then you are very antsy. You want to be on the move, or up walking around. Usually dinner entails us taking turns to eat and staying at the table with Alyssa. You go to others fairly easily - the baseball moms enjoy holding you which gives me some Alyssa time. I marvel at the sibling 'love' between you and Alyssa. Listening and watching you two play just melts my heart. Oh I love you sweet boy, and I thank you for making me smile everyday. I love you - Mom

Dear Alyssa
Dear Alyssa,
I can't believe you are getting close to finishing up Kindergarten! Where has the time gone? You are doing so much better than I ever imagined! You still have your 'shy' moments, but you have come out of your shell a lot. I was very nervous about you going to school, after our past experiences. You didn't cry in the mornings...thankfully. You have an AMAZING teacher, and we are so blessed. One day this semester I asked if you wanted to go through the drop off line, and you said YES! It was a bittersweet moment watching you walk up to school on your own. I was so proud, but yet a bit sad as I watched my big girl walk up! I am so happy with how you have responded to riding the bus to my campus every day, and how you have adjusted to waiting on me in the afternoons, while getting to play with the other teacher's kids. It will be sad in a couple weeks when their moms all move to a different part of the building, but I know we will make it work. (You don't know that is coming yet!) You love to play school in the afternoons - and at the house. You are always teaching your students. :) Following the same routine you do at your school. In the mornings you wake up to your own alarm clock, and most of the time you pick out your own clothes and get yourself dressed. Breakfast is not necessarily your favorite....unless of course we go by the donut store - Shipleys! We must do that at least once a week! My favorite part of the day is probably when we go pick up Austin. He smiles everytime he says you, and he gets so excited. I love the times on our way home, or wherever, and you have him giggling in the back! I pray you two will have a great relationship always! You love that little guy soooo much, and it just makes me smile to think about it. When we come home you finish homework, and then you LOVE to watch TV. You know your channels, and you enjoy watching Hanna Montana, Suite Life, and many others. You take your shower after dinner, and then you read to me or daddy. Your reading has improved so much this year. It is amazing how those 'chunks' and 'blenders' have taught you so much! You also feed your fish, Doree, before you lay down. You can't go to sleep without 'Spitzie' - your cat from Mikaylee's 7th birthday party. You still want one of us to lay with you while you go to sleep. It is nice at times, but hard because I like to fall asleep myself. :) You are much better though because I can go do some things and come back and check on you. You are having fun playing softball, and you love to play in the backyard when we have nice weather. You swing, practice softball, jump on the trampoline, play with your dolls, or whatever. You still love to play with your babies....you LOVE to take care of them. Today was the first time I had to pick you up from school - you have some sort of stomach bug. So sad to see you like this....but you are being quite the trooper. I pray you feel better in the morning. You are super sweet, and you like to do/make things for other people. You get embarrassed pretty easily, and you don't like for people to laugh at you. You are a great student at school, and I can only imagine how it would rock your world if you don't get a 'happy face' one day at school. You are a rule follower....well most of the time! You like to test me at times. You continue to teach me about patience...and I wish I was so much better. I love you so much my sweet girl, and I am so thankful for you. I love you to the moon and back a zillion times. Muah! Love - Mom

Muah! Love - Mom

Alyssa & Austin
Alyssa is 5 1/2 now, and she is in Kindergarten. She is doing great, and she loves school! She is my perfectionist, and I am so proud of what a great student she is. She played softball in the fall, and her practices are just getting started for the spring. It is fun to see how her reading has improved, and I am having fun seeing her learn how to add and subtract! Austin is almost 8 months, and he just started crawling yesterday. He has been waiting to take off! He has two bottom teeth & one on the top. The other three top teeth are working their way through any day now as well. He loves smiling at everyone, but especially his big sis. And he is so patient with her being in his 'face' all the time! They are both so precious...of course I am biased....and everyday we are reminded of how blessed we are.
Welcome!
Hello everyone! I am starting this blog as my 'journal.' This will be my place to write to my kiddos, and to share stories for anyone interested. I was so great about keeping a journal for Alyssa until Austin arrived. Now life and being a mom of two has me a bit busy! How do people with more than two survive??? Hope you enjoy visiting our page, and please be patient as I learn how this all works!
